Imagine being stuck in work in the middle of the bustling streets of Makati at this very minute, and then the next, you and your friends decide to travel all the way to Siargao and bask in its sun-torched beaches. However, you immediately realize that you're still dressed for work --- button down polo tucked in slacks and paired with your classic loafers. What do you do next?
People are always on the go. We are movers. That's why in cases such as the one mentioned above, it's so much better to be prepared and stock up on looks which can be used during running of daily errands and partying the night away at the same time.
One of the best things about fashion is that people are able to mix and match pieces from their wardrobe in order to create a whole new outfit suitable for the day (and night) --- an outfit which screams 'work and play.' In this newest installment of Portraits, I get to dress up for a day filled with classes and meetings whilst ensuring that I don't go over-the-top formal wear!
I went for a short-sleeved checkered button down polo and paired it with my swimming shorts and finished off the look with my favorite pair of worn-down white shoes. Considering the fact that I had meetings today, I made sure to choose a top which was formal enough for the meetings but decided not to pair it with chino pants since I might look like I aged a few more years and I become an official 'tito.'
Pro tip: Never be afraid to mix and match. That's the beauty of fashion. It gives the individual the freedom to actually express himself/herself through his/her clothes and how he/she chooses to utilize these clothes in order to present themselves. Aside from pairing formal button downs with casual swimming shorts, you may also opt to do otherwise. Try pairing formal slacks with a casual tee and finish the look with loafers in order to achieve a balance between being casual and being formal.
